Key Points:
. Disease- and pest-resistant tomato variety bred for hot, humid climates
. Produces clusters of ruby-red, sweet slicer-style tomatoes
. Determinate plants grow about 2 feet tall
. One of the only open-pollinated tomatoes resistant to Bacterial Wilt, Tobacco Mosaic Virus, and Root Knot Nematode
. Germination temperature: 75–95°F
. Germination time: 7–14 days
. Days to maturity: about 75 days after transplant
. Prefers full sun to partial shade
. Sow depth: 1/8 inch
. Plant spacing: 2 feet
Planting:
. Sow seeds shallowly in sterile, soilless seed-starting mix
. Start indoors in cool climates 6–8 weeks before last frost
. In warm climates, seed anytime after frost danger has passed
. Maintain consistent heat for germination (75–80°F recommended)
. Avoid heavy or poorly draining soil during germination
. Keep media evenly moist but not waterlogged
Germination Notes:
. Tomatoes may germinate in 5–14 days depending on conditions
. Consistent heat speeds up germination
. Use heating mats, warm indoor environments, or top of refrigerator
. Sow seeds 1/8 inch deep—too deep planting leads to low germination
Steps to Germination:
. Use proper-sized containers (seed flats or 4–6 inch pots)
. Fill with moist, sterile, well-draining seed-starting media
. Create a shallow depression and sow a few seeds per spot
. Cover lightly with media and water gently
. Keep media consistently moist using gentle misting or bottom-watering
. Maintain temperatures close to ideal germination range
. After germination, provide filtered sunlight and thin to one seedling per cell
Transplanting:
. Transplant when seedlings have 2–3 true leaves and a solid root ball
. Harden off by gradually exposing seedlings to outdoor conditions
. Transplant into garden beds or containers with well-drained fertile soil
. Water deeply for the first three days after transplanting
. For tomatoes, deeper planting along the stem encourages stronger rooting
. Mulch around plants to retain moisture and regulate temperature
Growing:
. Provide consistent moisture, especially during fruit set
. Fertilize with organic options such as compost, worm castings, fish emulsion, kelp, or OMRI-listed fertilizers
. Maintain good air circulation to prevent fungal issues
. Stake plants if needed to support growth
. Keep water off the leaves to avoid disease—water the soil directly
Seed Saving:
. Allow fruits to fully ripen before harvesting seeds
. Ferment seeds in a jar for a few days to remove the outer gel layer
. Rinse and dry seeds fully before storage
. Store seeds in a cool, dark place
. Be aware of potential cross-pollination if growing multiple varieties of the same species
Returns:
. Returns & exchanges not accepted
