Greeting us with a shimmering face and an oh-so-tactile surface, behind the scenes, this dimensional knit has a soft, matte white backing that pales in comparison to its luminescent ribs. Deep ridges run perpendicular to the selvage, teasing oodles of depth while mimicking a look like that of plisse. Yielding about 40% horizontal stretch and roughly 75% vertically, this ultra-stretchy medium challenges one sparingly, favoring all sorts of stretchy silhouettes. Preferring designs of few seams, sew with attention paid to its stiff, yet flexible drape. Take on bias-cut pieces such as circle skirts or full dresses; channel energy into bodycon skirts or flare-leg trousers; shine bright in fitted sweaters—with raglan sleeves made from ponte; and more. Translucent, incorporating a lining fabric is necessary to grant opacity to its medium-weight construction; we suggest something soft like rayon jersey.
