These 1/4" thick acrylic discs are designed to help you achieve smooth edges on your cake tiers effortlessly. Each set includes two discs: one to place on top of your cake and another underneath. The center hole allows you to center cake tiers precisely by using a temporary dowel during icing. If you do not chill your cakes before icing, a temporary dowel through the discs and cake is recommended to prevent shifting layers.
Before ordering, measure your finished cakes and cake pans to ensure the correct disc size. The general sizing rule is .5" for cakes that shrink less than 1/8" and are iced with buttercream only, and .25" for cakes that shrink more than 1/8" or are covered with fondant. Choose the size based on how much buttercream or ganache you want on the cake sides.
