This basic kit includes clear plastic square acrylic discs in 6", 8", and 10" sizes, each 1/4" thick with center holes. These discs help you achieve smooth edges on cake tiers by placing one on top and one underneath the cake. The center holes allow for precise centering of tiers using a temporary dowel during icing. If cakes are not chilled before icing, a dowel through the discs and cake is recommended to prevent shifting.
Before ordering, measure your finished cakes and cake pans to ensure the correct size. The .25" sizing is ideal for cakes that shrink more than 1/8" or cakes covered with fondant. Choose the size based on how much buttercream or ganache you want on the sides of your cake for a professional finish.
