Hot Portugal is a vigorous, upright hot pepper plant producing large numbers of long, conical peppers averaging 6 to 7 inches in length and 1.5 inches at the shoulder. The fruit is wrinkled dark green when immature and ripens early to a brilliant, glossy scarlet red, offering excellent flavor and heat.
These thin-walled peppers are edible when green but develop their best flavor and spiciness when fully ripe and red. They are versatile for fresh use, roasting, cooking, or drying to create spicy sauces.
