This malt develops caramel and dry roasted flavors, yielding a sweet taste with notes of toasted marshmallow, toast, mild coffee, prunes, and wood. It contributes a dark red to deep copper color with a beer color rating of 130 SRM.

Use this unmilled malt as up to 5% of the mash bill for background notes, 5-10% for red color and toffee aroma in Belgian and English ales or porters, or 10-15% for deep reddish brown hues and pronounced raisiny, toasted aroma in doppelbocks and Irish stouts. It has 2.5% moisture and a 73% extract yield. Packaged in a 50 lb. bulk bag, this kosher malt is made in America and should be stored in a low-humidity environment below 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
