These Chesapeake Crab Connection extra large male blue crabs measure between 6 1/2 and 7 inches and come pre-steamed without seasoning. Each case contains 12 crabs, which is an ideal portion for one to two people. These wild-caught crabs are shipped refrigerated and feature sweet, flaky meat that is tender and melts in the mouth.

To prepare, steam the partially cooked crabs for 6 to 8 minutes in a pot with equal parts water, vinegar, and optionally beer, placing them on a rack above the liquid. Season with salt and your signature spices to enhance flavor. Care should be taken not to dry the meat during steaming. These crabs develop fat stores known as "mustard" due to their adaptation to four distinct seasons, resulting in a heartier texture and a sweet, buttery taste.

Made in America, these hard shell crabs are suitable for traditional crack-and-eat presentations or for use in specialty dishes such as Maryland crab cakes or cheesy crab dip. Re-steaming does not cause a recognizable loss of quality.
